maxwell

Didn't want to miss the drama about Robert Maxwell last night and all the papers were saying how closely David Suchet looked like the monster but, as Brian pointed out about five minutes in, Suchet bore a rather closer resemblance to a Munster!

Actually, as much as I should like to take credit for spotting the fact that David Suchet was REALLY playing Al Lewis (aka Grandpa Munster) it was DAVID who instantly identified the likeness...

Anyway, once seen, it was then impossible to forget and every time a door opened in any scene in the following 90 minutes, one was always hoping Herman or Lilly might come in...

Unfortunately, they never did!

uncovering old lath and plaster

This morning this was a blue-painted wall which collapsed in less than two minutes in two almighty thumps revealing all this lovely lath and plaster work. This surely hasn't been seen since 1879 when the house was built and is a rather beautiful piece of handiwork. Sadly it will all be stripped out and replaced tomorrow with something less interesting and which probably won't last nearly as long.... but I am reliably told it has to be done.
And me and the builder are listening mainly to The Silver Seas.
